Suddenly, my M-Audio Hammer 88 Keyboard with Yamaha sustain pedal not working in Logic Pro 11. I have tried Rebuild Defaults for Control Surfaces, and also Bypass All Control Surfaces (with a reboot in between each try). The sustain, which previously worked, doesn't work now. Any ideas appreciated. Thank you.

They prompted me to see this in another perspective. I got it solved!
Simple answer to my problem was similar to the gentleman who had one bad pedal and one with inverted polarity.
I didn't discover that my Yamaha pedal was bad until I dug out the other pedal (Technics) which I had forgotten about ... when I plugged it in, I recognized the reversed polarity and turned it around. Voila! Solved.
Whew!
Open the Environment and go to the Layer Click & Ports. You find a Input Monitor in that Layer. Now press the pedal.
You can also use the very helpful tool https://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/ to inspect midi on your computer.
If you don't see any midi, than you know it might be an accidentally changed setting on your keyboard or a defect cable/pedal.
Forget the ENVIRONMENT. I think it's too easy to screw something up in there if you're not sure about something. Us the MIDIMon app (cited above). This will let you see whether your controller is send out data or not. There was a similar post recently - turned out the gentleman had one bad pedal, and one with inverted polarity.
