MacBook Pro Keeps Unexpectedly Crashing

Recently and out of the blue, my 2019 MacBook Pro running the latest version of MacOS keeps unexpectedly crashing. Every time I restart, inevitably it crashes again within seconds unless I do a full shut down and the restart. But eventually it will crash again. I have the full crash report (below). Can someone help me (a non-technical mind) understand why and how to fix? thanks

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.7

segmentation fault caused any a reference to location zero, which is protected.

Apple software generally does not do that, ever, unless...

By far the easiest way to cause poor performance, instability, overheating and crashing is to install ANY third-party speeder-uppers, Cleaners, Optimizers, or Virus scanners, Bit Torrent, or a VPN that you installed yourself. They are relentless in scanning your files, non-stop, looking for virus-like patterns in Everything, or looking for files that have changed. When completed, they do it all again.

¿Do you have anything like that installed?

Chrome is by far the largest resource consumer that is not obvious malware. ANY other Browser has a lighter footprint, generally with no loss in performance. Chrome will cause more activity in every facet of the operation of your Mac.

CleanMyMac just guesses at what to remove, and has been known to attempt to remove parts of running MacOS. Clean My Mac empties cached data, which makes you RAM sparkling clean, while your Mac is slowed by having to re-read stuff that was cached, but has now been discarded. CleanMyMac fails the test of being benign, AND it does not properly remove all traces of CleanMyMac when asked to do so using the official maker's procedure. In my opinion, that makes it indistinguishable from Malware.

VPN you install yourself offers NO additional security. In fact, it concentrates your information of the VPN site for easier data harvesting, and several have been caught doing exactly that, despite their assurances that they do not do that. You get needless complexity and abuse for NO added benefit whatsoever.

if you need a VPN to be 'present' on an institutional network, the Institution will provide the VPN and support its use.

if you need anonymity comparable to the Federal Witness Protection Program, use Tor Browser -- that is why it exists.

Otherwise, all the stuff we have been discussing should GO.

Your Window compositor system is crashing. Removing junk is always helpful...but you should also consider:

  1. Do you use you MBP with a dock to connect an external monitor? If so, does it crash when the monitor is connected? When the monitor is not connected?
  2. Do you use Mission Control and what settings are used in System Preferences?
  3. Any custom or unusual colour profiles set?

  1. I do not. The only time I use an external screen, I AirPlay to another device. But I have not been doing that since the crashing started.
  2. See below. I saw an article about turning off the "automatic rearrange" and "group windows" settings, so I did that yesterday.
  3. I don't think so. I saw another article about this and followed the path to the color profiles in my Mac (I believe) and there were no custom files there to discard.
