Network folder aliases keep going away or breaking

I have been through the process of making aliases on one of two Mac computers 3 times. I'm able to locate the folder on the network, then drag it out to the desktop, right-click and Make Alias. That gives me an icon that is a folder with three silhouettes in it. Trying to access the alias makes me fix it as it can't locate the original location. Usually, I'm able to browse to the location on the Windows server and fix the alias. It then becomes a drive icon. However, the original folder with the silhouettes is still there, so I delete it so there is no This time, I was only able to do that with one of three folders. The others weren't allowing me to access them on the server.

My next thought was to create login items, but again I was only able to do that for one of the three folders, and a different one from where I was able to create the alias. The other two wouldn't let me select Open to add them to the login locations.

The only way I could find to connect to individual windows folders is by SMB - 192.168.0.1/Share1, then separate connections for Share2 and Share3. If the user goes to Connect To...Server, and clicks on any of those paths, she has full access to the files as she should. I'm just trying to make aliases so she has a convenient way of connecting to those folders, but they keep ending up pointing to a folder that I don't even know where it is.
