I am curious as if I am able to use my wife's MacBook with my Apple ID. She is already signed into hers and we are afraid that it might possibly lose all of her stuff. I would like to use my iPad as a second monitor, but I am not able to because we are not on the same iCloud. Any help would be great! Thank you.

If you log in on her device (in her account) it will blend your data. If you need to use her Mac, create a new user account first. Then, Loog into that account.
System settings > users & groups > Add Account
