What is LDM? Should I be concerned about it?

I've begun to see a popup message when I restart my MacBook Pro (running Sonoma) that says "LDM is an item that can run in the background. You can manage this in Login Items Settings." But what in the world _is_ LDM? It's not in the list of Applications on my Mac. I have no idea what it is, whether I want it on my computer, whether I should disable it running in the background. Would greatly appreciate knowing what LDM actually is, please.

Think we now have confirmation. I went to the Login Items in System Preferences and clicked on the Information icon next to the LDM entry. It shows LDM, LaCieDesktopManagerDaemon, and LDMPreferencesMerge buried in a folder five levels underneath the LaCie Desktop Manager app in the Applications folder. None of those levels is visible when I simply open the Applications folder. But clicking command-i on the LDM icon shows it as a "UNIX Executable File" in that file chain underneath the LaCie Desktop Manager application. I don't pretend to understand all the details, but am now convinced and comfortable that LDM is, indeed, part of the LaCie software family and no longer something for me to be worried about. Appreciate the information provided here that led me to find that out, thank you.

Appreciate your timely and helpful feedback, thank you. I do have a couple of LaCie disks used for backup, so you may very well be correct. And I wouldn't worry about any LaCie software. My application list does not have an LDM entry, but I do see LaCie Desktop Manager there. Clicking on that app doesn't seem to open anything — confess I'd feel happier if I could find and launch LDM to confirm that's actually what it is, but suspect you're probably right and I feel better as a result, thanks.
