How to reset my iPhone as I forgot my Apple ID?

Resetting your phone will not help. You will need to gain access to the Apple ID that the phone is locked to. Use one of these 3 methods to reset your Password.

If you are still not able to access your phone, then the only other option requires you to provide the original purchase receipt from Apple or Authorized Apple seller to remove the Activation Lock. A third party receipt will not be accepted.

The reason the information is needed is because you would not want a thief to be able to reset your phone. A thief will not know your Apple ID or Password and will also not have the original purchase receipt to unlock the device.

Typically an Apple ID is an email address you have used. If you are currently using a mobile device that is logged into your account, go to Settings and tap your name at the top.

Look in Keychain, and in a browser's security settings if you use it to automatically sign into Apple when using a browser.
