Technical Tips for Preserving iPhone Battery Health

I’m looking for technical advice on maintaining long-term iPhone battery health. What are the best charging practices, temperature management tips, and settings like Optimized Battery Charging to reduce battery degradation? Are there official Apple recommendations to follow?

All rechargeable batteries are consumable components that become less effective as they chemically age.

Recent software updates can accelerate that process by adding features that consume more power.

As lithium-ion batteries chemically age, the amount of charge they can hold diminishes, resulting in shorter amounts of time before a device needs to be recharged.

Apple won’t replace the battery until it reaches 80% capacity.

Battery Performance Tips:

80% Battery Capacity?

Current Apple Prices:

  • No charge for in-warranty or AppleCare+ plan.

Out of Warranty Prices:

  • iPhone 15: $99 U.S. Dollars.

Typically, iPhone batteries will lose 1%-2% a month under what is considered "normal use". With that said, there are many variables that impact battery health such as usage, charge cycles on the battery, and the environment you live in.

Personally, I would not worry about maintaining your battery. Charge it however you want, whenever you want. The battery will need replaced eventually no matter what you do.

With that said, if you still want more information on battery preservation tips see here:
