Apple TV uses 40 gb of storage ... why?

I just got a message that I was almost out of storage on my 250 GB 2020 Retina MacBook Air. After exploring troubleshooting suggestions, when I went to investigate what I could delete to free up space, I was amazed to discover that I must choose between cherished photos, messages, documents, etc., without the option to remove Apple TV, an app I never use (though I enjoy streaming the channel on my TV and other devices). I hope someone at Apple will look into this so that in the future, I can keep what I want instead of holding onto an app I do not use. I have been a Mac lover since its earliest days, but things like this give me pause.
