DFSFileProviderExtension quit unexpectedly. Message keeps coming up

This error message keeps popping up, it seems to be referring to a problem with Google Drive, I am intermittently unable to import/export files to my drive or open certain files then other times it works.

DFSFileProviderExtension quit unexpectedly.

I have downloaded latest OS and restarted several times, can anyone help?

Commonly that means system extension is no longer compatible with the macOS version.

This worked for me:

"Goto - Settings - Privacy & Security - Extensions - Finder Extensions - Enable Google Drive and turn on Google Drive

Goto - Settings - Privacy & Security - Extensions - Added Extensions - Find "Google Drive Finder Helper" and which that on."

I am getting the same thing as of today. I started my Mac (I always shut down) and when I opened Chrome I saw it had updated. Then I got a message that Google Drive was not connected and I could open nothing from Google Drive in Finder. And, I get the DFSFileProviderExtension quit unexpectedly message continually whether I choose to report or ignore it. It keeps popping up.

I restarted. Same

I shut down all the way then started again. Same

I reinstalled Google Drive. Same, except I seem to be able to get to Google Drive.

Nothing seems to get rid of the error dialog box. I've left it open on my desktop while I do other things and am hoping nothing bad is happening in the background.
