Stretch 4:3 resolution (such as 1024x768) to fit a 16:9 resolution monitor

When I set a 4:3 resolution such as 1024x768 I get black bars on both sides of the screen (I have a 16:9 1920x1080 monitor).

I would like to have that resolution stretched over my full monitor, even if things then appear wider than they are.

Is that somehow possible?

Two monitors. Windows positions differently. MacOS Monterey, two monitors from different manufacturers. The right one from Philips (new), the left from Andersson (well used). Problem 1: When displaying same window on both monitors, the window "drops" a lot on the left monitor. See images. How can I make height position to be the same on both? Problem 2: As I thought the above issue might relate to different screen resolutions, I saw that the left (the Andersson one) seems to have 1920 x 1080 whereas the right one (Philips) just has 1080p. Now way to set them to same value. Any help appreciated.

What screen resolution do you use? I have just fired up my M4 mini and 27" 4K monitor and had a look at FCP. The display defaults to 1920x1080 and looks fine. When I change it to 3840x2160 I find I need a magnifying glass to read anything! So what resolution do you use and can you think of any disadvantage with sticking to 1920x1080?

Cannot adjust resolution onExtended Monitor after upgrading to Ventura I have an HP P204 connected by VGA as my extended monitor. After upgrading to Ventura the resolution increased in size. The HP says its optimum setting is 1600x900 which is not offered in Display Settings. In Display Settings it says the HP Extended display monitor is on 800x600 (Default). I can change the settings for the Apple Built-In Display but I cannot change the setting for the HP monitor. When I click on a different setting, nothing happens. Does anyone know how to adjust the resolution or is this a glitch with the Ventura upgrade?
