How to deactivate Hide My Email autofill sheet appearing in Safari 2024

Something has changed in Safari recently v18 (08/2024) when a login window pops up the "Hide My Email" sheet appears with both of my main email addresses appearing (iCloud and gMail) and it is obscuring my 1Password option to fill in my login.

Where can I set this to sheet to NOT show?

If I use Safari Technology Preview instead of Safari V18 I get a different response on the same webpage. ST Preview actually recognizes that I have a password for this site stored in Apple Keychain and offers it. Still though, no way to see the 1Password sheet under the Apple login sheet.

Unintuitive solution and bad human interface. We have to turn off one useful thing to turn off another. Maybe a bug?

Go to Safari Preferences > AutoFill > AutoFill web forms:

Deselect Using information from my contacts

This feature is designed to fill forms in with your contact information but it also turns off the Hide My Email sheet - I suppose a Hide My Email is a piece of contact information.

The real question is why is Safari asking us to use our contact information to fill in a username and password field?

The answer appears to be that we are using Hide My Email email addresses as usernames. It seems this is confusing Safari. It shouldn't.

When I use a Hide My Email email address as a login I make an entry in Passwords with that email address and a password. Is that not how it's meant to be used?

I am expecting the User names and passwords option to control what sheet shows up for a username and password field in Safari - a login.
