Is my iPhone 15 Pro Max battery aging correctly?

I got my iPhone 15 pro max a month & 10 days ago. I just checked my battery health and it’s 98% with 30 cycle count, how is that even possible? Is that normal? And do you have any tips for taking care of my battery?

You need to get at least 6 months or more on the battery to be able to detect any significant trends.

Battery Health will decline on average at about 1% for every 25 charge cycles, so with a 30 cycle count you would expect the battery to be at about 98.8%. (30 divided by 25 = 1.2%)

But.....Apple always rounds down any tenths or fractions to the next lower whole number. So, the battery might really be at 98.8% at this time, but this will be displayed as 98%.

Personally, I've had the best results by enabling Optimized Battery Charging on the phone and letting the phone charge up to 100% overnight.......every night.

But, some users prefer to limit the battery charge to 80%.......even though the battery will still charge up to 100% "occasionally" according to Apple. There is some debate about what "occasionally" might really mean, since we have seen reports from users that "occasionally" is about every 2 weeks, while other users report that "occasionally" is 4-6 weeks for them.

When your phone has gone through 150 charge cycles, the Battery Health will normally be at about 94%. If your phone varies significantly from this, then it would be time to have the battery checked out at the Apple Store or an authorized Apple service shop.

My e-bike's lithium battery has similar charging "best practices" as for my MacBook and iPhone.

CAUTION: Don’t store your battery long-term at full charge, zero charge, or very little charge. Storing your battery for long periods at full charge can cause range decline over time. Storing your battery for long periods at very little or no charge can cause permanent range decline or a non-functional battery.

In the summer I'm likely to charge it to 100% because I'll probably be going out again in a few days. I don't leave it on the charger though, I run the power through a countdown timer that cuts it off after a preset time, say, 1 or 2 hours. It doesn't work like trickle chargers for lead-acid auto batteries.

In the winter, I'll only charge it to about 80%, and check it every week or so, and put it on the charger for a short time to get it back up to 8O%.

The iPhone and MacBook battery management does more-or-less the same thing. It "guesses" what the demand may be and decides whether to charge it to 100% or stop at 80%.

To answer your final question, I'd say to trust the Battery Optimization algorithm, as per About Optimized Battery Charging on your iPhone - Apple Support (CA)
