Is this AirPods Max fake or real?

It is easier to print a label with a legit serial number than it is to create the counterfeit AirPods. The only way you will know for sure is to purchase from Apple or Authorized Apple Seller. The counterfeit market is huge for AirPods and a third party website is likely to be selling them. You may find these problems with counterfeit AirPods:

• Poor Audio Quality
• Noise Cancellation may not work
• Find My may not work
• No AppleCare coverage
• Poor Bluetooth range and connection issues

Unless you are purchasing the product directly from Apple or an Apple authorized reseller the chances that it is counterfeit or stolen are extremely high. Don't ever consider buying from eBay or Facebook Marketplace without vetting the seller or source as sellers there often don’t prepare the product for resale properly and you wind up with Activation Lock.

Hard to say without seeing the device or you giving us some more information.

The SN checks out but sometimes fake AirPods have legit serial numbers so you cant always go by just that to determine if they are genuine.
