My Apple Watch SE won’t let me change it’s face

I recently got an Apple Watch SE and I’ve tried countless times to make a custom watch face and it won’t let me set it as my watch face no matter how many times I’ve tapped the button. I can’t even add a pre existing watch face that Apple provides. The only way I can add a watch face is through my watch and even then it won’t let me do a custom one. How can I fix this or am I stuck with it?
