How do I start page numbers from a certian page in Pages?

I'm trying to insert page numbers into a document starting on page 9, starting with #1. I tried to create a new section, but the option to "start on this page" is grayed out. So I went back a page and selected "start on following page". There are now no headers and footers on all following pages, so I can't "insert page numbers," and there's no option I can find to turn them on. I've read every help doc I can find, and none of them discuss the issue. I'm stuck! Thanks for any help.

I'm running OS 17.6, and Pages version.14.1.

Hi,

From what I understand, you may first need to turn on the Footer option. In the sidebar, this is under Document and then under the Document subsection.

From there, your issue may be that you have the "Match Previous Section" checked. You'll want to uncheck that.

Everything else you did should work now if you try, but if not we can continue troubleshooting.
