itunes does not recognize my audio CD on my windows 10 pc

Running Windows 10 on a Dell PC with a half-height built-in CD/DVD drive. This is a recent problem after many years of flawless performance on the current system.

I've tried the suggested closing iTunes and double-clicking the iTunes.exe file in on my PC hard drive. iTunes starts normally but it still will not recognize audio CD's inserted into my CD/DVD drive. I've tried ejecting (iTunes will eject) and reloading to no avail.

CD/DVD drive works fine with other programs.
