I cannot turn off Family Sharing

I have followed the instructions to turn off family sharing. I am the organizer and only family member but family sharing will not turn off.

Try signing out from Settings ➜ Apple ID ➜ Sign out (scroll to the bottom to find it), then sign back in.

If it still does not work, then you may need to contact Apple Support directly.

What happens when you try to turn it off then?

Does it not complete the process?

Does it issue an error?

Nothing happens…the second box pops up asking again if I want to stop using family sharing. I select it and the box disappears but nothing else happens.
