Final Cut Pro 10.8.1 Can't Even Playback a standalone 4K60 Video

Folks, I'm not sure what's going on, but FCP 10.8.1 can't play a simple 4K60 video. I'm not pushing it anyhow. No Multicam being displayed, no vector scopes, no 3D artifacts, no color adjustments, nothing. Only 4K60 footage from a Canon R7, and 4K24 footage, with the Machine Learning Video Quality applied - so we can get good slow motion - from the old and trusted Sony A7 III. I can't play the timeline, it stutters, breaks the audio, a mess. Yes, I set the Quality to "Better Performance". Even so, it still can't play the video fluid. I'm using a SSD drive, on a MacBook Pro 14-Inch, 2021 with the M1 Pro chip, 16 gb of ram and 512 gb hard drive, and macOS Sonoma 14.6.1.

Any help, anything, any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Looks like your boot drive is full. You need a minimum of 15% free, preferably 20%.

You have a very slow, 480Mb/s USB device connected. That can slow down everything else on the bus.

Google's keystone and updater software is installed. Follow the instructions at https://chromeisbad.com for instructions on how to remove everything. Simply deleting Chrome.app is not enough.
