MacBook Air sound output defaults to internal speaker. But I play music files to dedicated external speakers with AirPlay.
Each time BEFORE I can play music in my standard set up (MacBook Air Music files sent by AirPlay to dedicated KEF speakers), I must FIRST go to System/Sound/Sound Output and then select the KEF speakers, because the Sound Output immediately defaults to internal speakers whenever the previous AirPlay is interrupted. I can understand this behavior, but it drives me crazy to have to do a four-click sequence every time I use wi-fi to play music.
I can imagine two "solutions." The best but likely impossible solution is to be able to tell the OS to stick with the last AirPlay Sound Output rather than to default to internal speakers. The more practical solution would be to create a one-click shortcut that changes the default setting to either (a) the KEF speakers, or (b) the last AirPlay Sound Output (whatever it might be).
This shortcut would have the following steps: (1) select System Settings; (2) select Sound; (3) select Output; (4) select LS50 Wireless II-15564b1; (5) close System Settings window. A nice touch would be a 6th action that displayed the message: "sound output set to wireless speakers"
Can anyone help me learn how to do this, or is there some reason why this kind of shortcut can't be done? Is there any other solution?
