Apple gift card and buying an ipad with the monthly payment feature.

Hello! I was wondering if i could get some help? The company I work for has a wellness program that we can earn cash through and then use it to buy gift cards. I am looking at buying a new iPad. I was wondering if I purchased apple gift cards and added them to my apple wallet, could I then use that money to make the monthly payment or a lump sum payment on my actual apple credit card that i use when purchasing apple products?

So for example - I purchase $300 in apple gift cards and add them to my apple wallet. I then go on the Apple store site and purchase a $800 dollar iPad. Can I take that $300 that I have added to my wallet and make a lump sum payment or the monthly payments with it?

I appreciate any help with this!

Thanks

You would use your Apple Gift cards as a down payment of sorts. The $800 purchase would be instantly reduced to $500 by applying the gift cards to the total purchase. Then the $500 balance would be placed on an ACMI (Apple Card Monthly Installments) that you can pay off interest free.

You cannot use a gift card as a payment instrument on a credit card payment. Think of it this way, banks don’t accept gift cards as a form of payment.

So I contacted Apple credit card support and this is what I was instructed to do.

Add all gift cards to my wallet. Add iPad to my cart but do it as a lump sum payment. Apply total amount of gift cards (as there is an option that shows total amount). Then use my Apple Card as the payment option. Then once the payment has posted in the Apple Card call Apple credit card support (Goldman Sacks is who it is) then tell them that you made the purchase but you want to do it as installments. They will then take the difference and switch it to the installment plan with the 0% apr!!

Little more effort but it’s the only way it seems that you are able to use your gift and also use the Apple Card payment plan.

Ok so I added I my iPad to my bag and was trying to checkout but there is nowhere for me to add my gift cards. So, I backed out added one gift card to my wallet to see if it would show it to be applied and it does not. I called MY APPLE, and we walked through it and if you select monthly installments, you are not allowed to use gift cards.

The lady on the phone told me what I can do is try going through making the lump payment option, see if I can add my gift cards that way, then afterwards i can call Apple and have them change it from the lump sum to the payment plan? Does that seem correct?

If I use the lump sum option, are you able to make monthly payments or does this require you to make a one-time payment?

Thank you! Just for clarification so I know I understand, It would allow me to take the total amount of apple gift cards and apply that to the total at checkout. Then whatever is left would be charged to my apple card and I could just make the monthly payments then interst free.

That works just the same for me. I wanted to either do it this way at the minumum be able to use them for the payments, but i would prefer this method better.

Would I just need to add the gift cards then in the Apple app store or on my wallet? My firsth thought would be in the App store so it can be applied before final checkout.

I appreciate the help!
