How can I recover lost contacts on my iPhone?

My contacts for about the past 2.5 years are no longer showing up in my iPhone. Just the number, no name, picture, etc. I think something happened with my gmail account getting disconnected but I have no idea how or how to reconnect and get the contacts back. Please help!

Contacts sync to email accounts. So if your contacts were Google contacts you have to log in to Google to restore them. Depending on how you connect to Google or gmail you have to repeat those steps.

The easiest way is to go to Settings/Mail/Accounts, turn on gmail if it is there already, or tap Add Account, then gmail and add it.
