Airtag is only showing location at home, but isn’t at home

I’ve lost the airtag. But the airtag is giving me location at home, it isnt at home. I want to find it but is only updating to home. Not helpfull when you want to find something you lost. It cant connect, cant find, cant play a sound. Is there a way to reset it from a distant or another way to get the right location?..

If this AirTag is outside the Bluetooth range (30-40') of the iPhone you paired it with, it will require another iPhone within that range to relay its ID, and the phone's GPS location, to the Apple servers over the Internet. That is where you would see location updates on the Find My app on your iPhone.

You can place it into "Lost Mode" and provide your contact information. Should someone else locates it, they could use this information to contact you. Resetting will not help. Should you also remove it from your Apple ID, whomever finds it could make it "theirs."

The AirTag thrives off of the Find My network. This means that AirTags only update their location when an iPhone is nearby, even if it is not your own iPhone.

AirTags use Bluetooth technology to communicate. As with many technologies, there are limits to Bluetooth. Bluetooth signals typically can only travel to another device if they are within line of sight. Or 20 to 30 feet.

You may have left your AirTag where there has not been an iPhone nearby. In this case, the AirTag will not update its location until an iPhone passes by and because of this, the AirTag is showing an old location.
