My new file won't export

My video I have just finished won't export. I thought it would have been a Hard drive issue, with no space left on my computer. So, I went out and bought an external hard drive and it's still not exporting. Take a look at the error message I'm getting . Can anyone help ?

Oh man, I'm an amateur here trying to play ball with the pros. They're not supposed be black, but they're very brief frames . Btw, I hit a button or something that has caused the left side of my workflow to look like this. How can I get out of this ?

It seems that you are referring to the browser being in list view. Click the icon atop the browser and to the right of the popup menu where it says “Hide Rejected”.

OK, a couple of things. I've turned this into a compound clip. Can I undo that ? Secondly , your instructions aren't fitting with my FCP. How do I delete my render files? Also , you'll see when I go to the final cut menu, there is no 'settings' option . See pic.

In recent versions we see “Settings”, in older versions like yours it’s “Preferences” but it’s the same thing. J

The error message is very explicit, and indicates a problem with one particular frame.

Start by deleting all render files (*) and turn off “background render” if it is on. Then try again. If the problem persists, it may be a problem with one of your clips.

Go to Final Cut Pro->Settings->General and change the time display to Frames. Then move the playhead to frame 1294. You may need to replace that clip or slight change your edit to avoid a bad frame. Sometimes optimizing the offending clip may work too.

(*) to delete render files (which you should do anyway to reclaim disk space): select the library in the browser sidebar, and do File->Delete Generated Library Files… make sure to check All Render Files

Select the Library itself, not just one clip.

The wording of the menu changes depending on what is selected.

If you select the library in the browser sidebar, then in the File menu you will see

Delete Generated Library Files …

If a project is selected, it will say Project, etc.

For a project or the whole library, you will see the option cpr render files.
