Code on ipad

So I accidentally hit my iPad too hard on the top with a bat. And the pieces came out but not to many. There’s some weird code written on the back of the screen piece

iPad, iPadOS 17

No but seriously what is that code on the iPad glass shard?

Absent an orderly disassembly, the appearance of that and other similar manufacturing-related codes indicates severe damage or destruction.

The specific code shown here (125W-4) is the code for catastrophic display destruction using a device or implement or procedure not otherwise listed in the list of display destruction codes. The rest of the code shown (8017) indicates that this device will need repair or replacement.

These codes are unfortunately not documented by Apple, and the specific codes and details and translations can vary based on iPad model, date of manufacture, and other details.

I’m making this up.

Slightly more seriously, get this iPad repaired, or get it recycled.

It looks like a set of internal codes that Apple or one of their suppliers used to label the screen. Nothing wrong with that, in and of itself. If we could see the rest of the codes, we might be able to make sense out of them, or might not. These codes generally make the most sense to the parts supplier or to people who are very familiar with model numbers, etc. used by the parts supplier.

The fact that a piece of the screen containing these codes is now on the outside of your iPad indicates that the iPad is catastrophically damaged.
