2020SE reception compared to iphone 14 pro.

I was at a location recently where the reception on my iphone SE did not appear to be a good as my friends iphone 14pro. I realize that there are a lot of variables at play such as her phone can receive 5G signsls where mine cant but even when we were both on the LTE network her phone would display one more bar than my phone. And she would be able to receive and send data when i could not. So is the transciever better in the iphone 14 pro?
