Question

Cannot save/share PDF files through Gmail Chat

Cannot save/Share as no option is available other than to search text within pdf. Super annoying another another reason why I personally use Android.

iPad Pro, iPadOS 17

That would be an issue to take up with Google. It's their app so any such limitations in features would be in their control. However, I have seen one suggestion that you may find you can select the file to attach if you add the file to your Google Drive. The Chat app apparently can not select PDF files directly from the ‘Files’ folder.

Unfortunately has nothing to do with selecting PDF files from folders. When someone sends me a PDF through chat all I can do is click on it (Holding doesn’t prompt any options to save PDF) and when I click on it, it then views it like above and gives me no option. At this point I then have to use my Samsung to do the same thing but can then save it to a google drive to view on this iPad.

That's an issue with Google, then. Since they make Android, they have little incentive to make their iOS apps fully functional. Whether there's a third-party app that works with Google Chat that would offer more capability I don't know.
