Unlocking password folders System Preferences
HI, I've tried to unlock the password folder in System Preferences but it doesn't work. I guess I've mistyped the original password. How do I open the folder?

Does it work in a new Account?
Does your pasword work elsewhere to unlock things?
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?
That would indicate that you need to reinstall the OS likely.
Yes it does. It's only the password folder in system preferences thats
the problem so I guess I've mistyped the original password by mistake. Odd, as I assume it would have asked me to verify and I can't believe I would have made the same mistake twice. It's not a great problem as I can open every other file but it's just a niggle in as much as there will come a time when I need to open the password folder.
Are you running OS12 still?
Yes,12.7.6
Sadly no.
Hi guys, finally sorted it by putting a very old password I had completely forgotten about. Thanks so much for all your help.
