How do I move text cursor on iPhone to exact place?

How do you move the blue line to place it where you want it to be when typing?

Long-press the space bar (do not release) and move your finger over the keyboard as if the keyboard were a trackpad.

How can I tap to place my cursor on iPhone for text edit? When typing, i cannot place the cursor wherever i tap in the sentence to correct a typo or reword something. Tapping where i want the cursor to go either highlights the entire word or phrase, triggering the copy/select all/ etc menu, or does nothing. Why is the iphone not capable of this? It's very simple and I could do it on previous phones. Anchoring the cursor control to tap/hold/drag-within-the-spacebar turns the very simple process of a single tap into a 3-4 step, less efficient process. Tap/hold/drag is like turning the phone into a trackpad and a less functional mouse and completely negates the idea of a touchscreen. Placing cursor in middle of word for text message correction on iPhone First time iPhone user here. In Android, I can correct a spelling error in an outgoing text message by simply putting the cursor to the right of the erroneous letter in the word, then backspace as necessary to remove erroneous letters, then type correct letters (all just like on the desktop or laptop). But iPhone won't let me put cursor in middle of a word. It insists upon placing the cursor after a word and then backspace deletes the entire word. Is there a way to get iPhone to just let me edit what I want to edit and nothing more, like the desktop or Android phones do? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Can’t drag cursor in text on iOS 18 Just upgraded from an XS to an 11 pro; and loaded up with iOS 18. Now when typing text in any field or app; the press and hold feature to navigate thru text is gone. Not sure if this is something that can be turned back on but also reading of other users with the same issue. Please re add back into future updates if it’s gone. Super handy feature.
