I have an Apple TV 2nd generation device.
Have been watching the DSTV stream service on the above device for the past year.
Suddenly last night whilst watching YouTube for a while I tried to launch the DSTV app.
It now suddenly does not want to start the app at all.
I have reset the Apple TV, reset the WIFI etc. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it.
It has made no diffence.

Good day all. Regarding the DSTV and Apple TV issue I had.
I finally managed to sort the problem out.
I suspect either Apple or DSTV updated their firmware/app.
The steps I followed were:
Did a factory reset on the Apple TV
Ensured that the latest firmware from Apple was running on my Apple TV
Installed the DSTV app.
That solved it.

As you seem to have done steps 1–3 already, then it may be time for step 4.

did you manage to resolve? I also delted and re-installed and still not launching the app. I tried multichoice and they say everything fine on their end so still cannot launch the app to stream
Please asvise if you found a work around
I have automatic updates set to on and when I checked now there was a new update available but now it just say waiting for update server and then starts from 8 monutes to 30 minutes remaining and then again waiting for update server
wifi speed 100 up and 100 down so connectivity not an issue
