macOS app toolbars and sidebars turned white.

The toolbars and sidebars of Finder and Safari windows are colorless, white. There is no color in their background.

I don’t remember when this happened; it may have been gradual. But it’s now so bad that I can’t tell which tab is active in a Safari window.

In Monterey and earlier, go to > Apple > System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Display and set the Display Contrast: slider to Normal.

Also test with all of the boxes unchecked, except for Reduce transparence.

Thanks for pointing out that difference; they have all been white for at least 10 days and I forgot what they’re supposed to look like in the ensuing mayhem.

I changed the Profile to Generic RGB; it was better of all the others but still no color.

Thank you, again.

Thank you for your help.

I checked the Prefs / Display just to be safe:

Then I changed the Prefs / Accessility / Display as you suggested:

The reduced transparency seems to be the best option, but it is far from optimal, and there is no color in the title bars, sidebars, etc. aside from the icons:

I changed my desktop color to a dark gray for better legibility:

Could one of my applications have done this when I changed the default colors in its Preferences?
