Can I upgrade my phone through the iPhone Upgrade program within the first six months?

I had to get a new phone 3 months ago, so I started a new loan. Now I want to upgrade in September for the new one. I know that you need to pay at least 12 months on the phone before upgrading, but now I also see another requirement that I need at least 6 months in the loan before upgrading. Is there a way to upgrade (pay a fee or something) to bypass the six-month requirement?
