In the middle of connecting and setting up my apple pencil to my iPad, I accidentally shut my iPad off. When I went to put the passcode in and try again my iPad touchscreen wouldn’t work and I can’t unlock it now. I think it’s stuck in pencil mode but since my pencil isn’t fully synced yet it won’t let me use it either to unlock.

If you can't even get it into recovery mode then it may have suffered a hardware failure. At this point taking it to an Apple Store or authorized Apple service center for diagnosis may be your best option.

I’ve tried force resetting it and unfortunately that still doesn’t work. And, since the touch screen isn’t working I can’t shut it down either to set it in recovery mode. Might just wait for the battery to drain and let it die and see what i can do from there?
