Hi there,

I've had this issue for the past couple of days where randomly my MacBook Pro will start typing a series of ................. continuously and non-stop its started after my mackbook new veersion cam ands i updated from software update side. This happens both when typing directly with the laptop keyboard and when typing through a bluetooth connected keyboard. It also seems to randomly start and stop. Re-starting the computer does not resolve the issue. Does anybody else have this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

Make sure the only Bluetooth item you have connected is the keyboard. If an iPad, or iPhone is connected, it may try to type onto the computer. Apple menu -> System Preferences/Settings Bluetooth lets you manage connected devices.

Make sure there hasn't been any spill near the keyboard. If there has, the one that has may need to be replaced.

Make sure there isn't any inflating of wristpad or underside of it on the computer. It may indicate a problematic condition with the computer's battery, which an authorized service tech has to look it. This can cause the cables inside the computer that control the keyboard and trackpad to loose connectivity and create unpredictable input.

Check that keyboard shortcut settings haven't remapped the period for another key.

Check that Accessibility shortcuts are all turned off.

The last two are in Apple menu -> System Preferences/settings keyboard and Accessibility.
