Is it possible to have no IMEI on the SIM card tray on my iPhone?

The SIM Tray on your iPhone could have been replaced and of course the replacement would not have the IMEI number. Not sure if you purchased a Refurbished phone or not, but any new device purchased at Apple or Authorized Apple Seller will have the IMEI number on the SIM Tray for the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

That was my thought as well.

The USA iPhone 13 Pro Max provides an eSIM capability, which is widely available in the U.S. Therefore it is certainly likely that such an iPhone will not contain a nano-SIM card.

iPhones should always be purchased in the owner’s country of residence. USA iPhones may only be serviced in the USA by Apple and the warranty is only valid there.
