I have followed all the instructions re: erasing all the content of my 2017 MacBook Pro so I can return it for trading and none of the options I've received in an email will allow me to complete it.
Not sure what email you're referencing.

The instructions provide links should you not have an Apple Silicon or T2 Mac and therefore no ability to use the erase all content and settings command.
I have followed all the instructions re: What to do before you sell, give away, trade in or recycle, and none of them work. I cannot use the Erase All Contact feature, I cannot go to Disk Utility and do it from there because once I select the Macintosh HD the erase function isn't highlighted.
