What does the orange dot on upper right corner of my iPad indicate?

I have an,orange dot. On the upper right hand corner of my iPad. It always comes on. When I turn off the iPad. And turn it on again. I can restart it. And it goes away. But when I turn off the iPad. Then turn it on again. It’s back on again. Just noticed this a couple days ago.

It means the Microphone is being or was recently used by an app.

If you were on a voice call or dictating or recording audio etc... it will appear.

To see which app is using it, you can bring down control center by swiping down from the top right corner and the App name should appear at the top.
