What type of cable do I get for an HDMI connection for my MacBook Pro?

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro with 2 thunderbolt 3 ports. What type of cable do I get for an HDMI connection? Is thunderbolt the same as a USB-C connection?

Thank you

You need a Thunderbolt 3 / 4 / USB-C to HDMI adapter.

click here ➜ USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - Apple

or here ➜ Anker Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI Adapter - Amazon.com

or here Ugreen Thunderbolt 3/4 to HDMI Adapter - Amazon.com

Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 use the same port type as USB-C. But they do more than regular USB-C.

There are many different versions of HDMI with different capabilities, but the HDMI specs do not allow the differences to be directly reflected in the names of what you can buy.

What Make&model display to you want to connect, and at what resolution?

The general solution will be an adapter/cable, or a separate adapter and HDMI cable. At the very high end, the length of the adapter/cable is limited to one meter or shorter, and you must be certain to buy the right adapter capabilities to match the resolution of your display.

Ah, you should have led with that as your requirements.

Your needs will be more modest, because you avoid all the difficulties at the high end, and at modest speeds, HDMI cables can be quite long.

You definitely need an adapter, NOT an adapter/cable. The ones Phil0124 posted will work great for that!
