Whether and how far you can upgrade macOS will depend on the model, and hardware release year / time of year, of your Mac. You can find this information in the About This Mac dialog in the Apple () menu.


If your MacBook Pro's hardware release year is 2011 or earlier, you cannot upgrade past High Sierra. If it is 2012 or later, please post the model (e.g., "MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)"). We can use it to look up how far you can upgrade. Please do not post your Mac's serial number.
