My wife's apple watch stays illuminated while charging. It does not turn off after a few moments like my mine does. The constant light is annoying and cannot be good for the screen.
How do I set the watch to automatically turn off after a minute or two?

Have you tried a forced restart? A forced restart is much more than just turning the Watch off and on. If you’re not familiar with the process, please review the steps in the Apple Support article I linked below.

Is it an Apple brand puck/cable and wall charger or are some pieces third party?
Try covering the screen with your hand for a few seconds. What happens?
I did try covering the screen and it does go out, but then comes back on in about 3-5 seconds.
When wearing, the watch goes off normally and illuminates when you raise your arm. It is only while charging it is always on.
In a dark room, the light from the watch is very bright.
All apple components, wall adapter, and charge cable/puck. I also tried my charger for my iWatch as well.
No change, the screen stays on while on the charger - it never goes out, until taken off the charger.
