How can I stop unwanted Emails from visited websites?

Why am I getting emails from websites I have visited when I haven't given them my email address, made a purchase from them, or signed into google? I have emptied my cache and deleted my history but it just happened again. How are websites getting my email address? This is a little alarming.

Email addresses are sold all the time. Even if you were to never give out your email address to any particular shopping site, someone with a Windows PC may have installed malware that harvests their address book and contact information and uploads it to millions of servers all over the world. That's just one possibility among thousands.

This is nothing new. Just send the email messages to Junk and the Mail app will learn to do that without your constant intervention. It's not perfect but it works.

Thank you for your reply. These emails are from websites I have visited knowingly, and within a few hours I have received emails from them asking whether I have questions about their product. So it seems like they’re somehow collecting my email address when I visited their website. These are not random websites I’ve not heard of that bought my data from somewhere else.
