ipad 5th generation iOS compatibility

I am thinking of buying a used iPad 5th generation WiFi iPad. Is it going to be able to get the latest iOS updates?

An iPad 5 or original iPad Pro isn't capable of 17 or above; they require an A10 or better CPU. Nobody on these boards can say if Apple's going to patch 16 again.

If you get it or any other secondhand iPad capable of 7 or higher, check that the unit doesn't have an activation lock before giving the seller your money.
