How do I stop Apple Maps from automatically loading and executing locations.

This started two weeks ago, and I can't seem to find a button to stop it. When I open my Apple Maps wherever I am it picks a location automatically starts the app and gives me directions assuming I want to go to a certain place. For example, when I leave my house and I open Maps to put in a destination, it immediately tries to route me back to my house and starts the directions.

This is quite irritating and invasive. I'm also in a hands-free state. I don't have time to mess with this thing while I'm trying to drive. I have a few favorite destinations, and I can't have Apple picking one for me at random assuming it knows where I wanna go.

How do I make this stop?
