iPod Classic won't Sync

While I can successfully connect my iPod Classic to iTunes, iTunes doesn’t detect the iPod, meaning I can’t sync (and download) an album purchased from the iTunes Store 2 days ago.  On my PC (Windows 11, 64-bit) I’m normally the “User”, but occasionally switch to “Administrator”.  I’ve downloaded iTunes as Administrator but not very successfully because many songs have been/are being downloaded from the cloud and ignore the careful formatting I’ve done in the past for each album/song including a lot of vinyl and CDs I digitised years ago (taking me over 5 months).  Nevertheless, as Administrator, my iPod is detected.  However, in that mode syncing is still impossible.  The iPod has plenty of space available.  I’ve tried restarting the iPod and I’ve re-downloaded the iTunes app (12.13.2.3).  Any suggested solutions

gratefully received.
