Command+Click (Open link in new tab) not working
Hi,
I am currently running macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 on a MacBook Air 15" M3 (2024).
Tradinionally, by holding down the command button (Cmd) + Click I could open a link in a new tab in Safari. This does no longer work. For reference, cmd + space bar does open Spotlight. Therefore, the problem seemingly does not have anything to do with the Cmd-function as such.
The problem with not being able to open links in a new tab seems to have existed for a quite some time. To my knowledge, it was first addressed by SusanCnett on 15 October 2023. Since then, nearly a year has passed to this date. Still, no solution has been provided.
I call for a re-opening of the question. How does one fix the command + click function so as to open links in new tabs in Safari? It is important so as to navigate Safari (and other applications) effectively. Can anyone please provide some contributions to the solving of this question? Is the lack of the function merely a bug/ fault, or has it been deliberately removed from macOS Sonoma? Why has this not been clarified in the time that has passed since the question was first raised? If it is in fact a deliberate removal, is it possible to "re-install" the function manually, and if so, how does one go about this?
Sincerely,
Erlend
