Final Cut Pro missing video clips

I was in the process (several days) of editing a video and some of the clips went black. It took a while to figure out the problem, but my husband was trying to be nice and free up some space on my computer when he deleted some of the clips I was using for my current project. I have since redownloaded the clips to my computer, but even when I use the newly downloaded clips to add them back into the project they still appear black. I'm not super savvy with FCP, as I'm still just learning the program, but I don't want to have to start over completely. This project took me so long to put together. (and I'm not sure it would work anyway since the new clips don't appear to be working.)

Please help!

Do you do see the clip in the browser with the video? Is the right? Select the library in the application and use File>Delete generated library files. Delete all the render files. Reboot the computer and then delete the FCP settings by holding Opt-Cmd as you launch the application.

Select the clip in the timeline and with the playhead over it press Shift-F. Is the clip in the browser? If it's there right-click and use Reveal in Finder. What do you see there?
