iOS 17.6.1 overheating and battery drain

Iphone 13 128gb. ios 17.6.1 is killing my battery. Since the update can’t get more than a couple of hours before needing to charge. Just writing this and 5 percent gone. Not sure what to do about it. Draining really fast.

I’m experiencing the same issues but with my iPad Pro. Apple needs to recall this update or quickly send another to restore what we had before. Tired of these updates that make perfectly working devices go bad.

I’m dealing with the same problem just moments after updating. My IPhone SE is getting noticeably hot to the touch despite never having this problem before. The battery is also draining at an accelerated rate compared to normal. I was gaslighting myself saying it was all in my head, but it was concerning enough to see if I was alone.

The heat seems isolated to the upper left side of the phone underneath the camera.

Let’s define “overheating”. If an iPhone overheats it shuts down so it can’t be used, and displays a message saying it must cool down before it can be turned on, and it will probably be unusable for an hour or so. If you are seeing this it is a hardware problem and you should contact Apple support: 

• Click on “Support” at the top of this page
• Go to Contact Official Apple Support

Note that both of the above have options to receive a callback or chat

If you are not seeing this your phone has not overheated. However, if you fast charge your phone may get very warm, pause charging at 80% and display a message saying that charging has paused, and will resume when the phone cools down. This is NOT overheating, and is normal when fast charging. It also won’t prevent you from using any app you have on your phone.

Also, some apps that use a lot of energy or that use cellular data rather than Wi-Fi can cause the phone to run warmer.

So, you’re out of warranty, if you’re in EU apple have to replace the device, if you can prove that the software update is causing the problem. If you are elsewhere you need to check with the local law. Apple inherently states that you have certain legal rights which yoi can claim even after the expiration pf warranty. But good luck with that

Similar issue here. My phone now dims every time it is plugged in and I am still using it. It also physically gets hotter. The additional kicker is that the battery drains much quicker than prior to the update.

None of these instances occurred prior to this update.

Same here single charge wouldn’t last as long as 17.5.1 or even 17.6 and the worst is overheating over simple tasks

Although I updated a week ago, today is the first day the phone is draining fast and its back cover is warm.

My iPhone SE ios 17.6.1 Is losing power faster then it has for the past 2 1/2 yrs. My iPhone also just shut down one day which has never happened. I thought it was dead. I waited a while & thankfully it did start up again. My battery now only charges to 89%. I don't understand why it's degrading so rapidly. Of course I am out of my warranty. This seems like a malfunction in my iPhone.

Yes,same issues with 17.6.1. totally disgusting. We spend about half a million in Pakistan to buy an apple iPhone and they release such pathetic softwares that heat up the phone so much that it becomes hot to even handle plus the battery draining at ridiculous pace.Hope Apple addresses the issue timely, if not, Apple phones will be lost in the dustbin of history.
