Pls why is it that my phone keeps saying it’s up to date whenever I want to update it to iOS 16.0

iOS 16 requires an iPhone 8 or newer.

iOS 17 requires an iPhone XR or newer.

iOS 18, due out in a few weeks, will require an iPhone XR or newer.

Buy a phone that supports the version of iOS you want/need.

This usually happens because the unit isn't capable of a higher OS version, but may also be due to having a beta profile installed or it not being able to communicate with Apple's servers properly.
