Why do I have to enter billing information every time I try to download a free app

Apple requires that you have a payment method on file for using the App Store and downloading apps, whether they are free or not.

This is Apple’s policy, you must have a payment method on file to download apps from the App Store. Even if the apps are free or not, most likely for verification reasons.

Hello~ As *Zachyy* correctly points out you need a payment method on file but it must be a working payment method. Most apps have in-app purchases and subscriptions thus the need. If you are being asked to put in a payment method …then you must for verification purposes. You can use the links previously posted to do so.
