2009 Macbook powercord

I need to know what power cord replacement I need for a 2009 MacBook Pro 2.53 ghz mid 2009. When I look up my computer it by serial number it says in is a 17”, but my computers is a 15”. Do I need a MagSafe 60 w or a 85 w cord

Either one will work fine, but only the 85W model is still available from Apple — and I do not recommend that you get one from anyplace else. See thenote below.

It's physically larger but will work the same.

  • Normally I'd also suggest OWC as a reliable source, but theirs are sold out at present.
