Ok so today I found a group chat a random one and I think I have a hacker the people on the group chat were random letters weird it would usually show numbers like a phone number but nope! I am so worried I texted back BAD IDEA nothing happened but I just put in the apple event I am going to watch by the way and some random letters nothing happened anyway I changed my Apple ID so I hope that helped

You do not have a "hacker". Hackers don't announce themselves by sending you group chats. Someone just added you to a group chat.
The only thing responding did was let whoever was on the other end know that your contact information was active.
Do you mean you changed your entire Apple ID? Or just the password. Neither was necessary.
Block everyone you don't know in that chat and delete it.
